Cosmic Vinyaters, Via Fora Sumoll 2021

A full-bodied red from 100 percent Sumoll grapes described as “a tribute to wise farmers who have been firm conservators of our cultural and wine heritage.”

Vines planted in 1965 at the now eco-certified El Cup del Benet vineyard near the town of Masllorenç grow in shallow limestone red clay soils at 300 meters above sea level and are maintained in a mostly hands-off approach that mixes traditional biodynamic farming with elements of spirituality and philosophy.

The hand-harvested grapes undergo whole-cluster carbonic maceration before gentle pressing and spontaneous fermentation (from autochthonous yeast) in stainless steel tanks. Aged on fine lees in chestnut barrel for four months and bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfites (8mg/l total).
