Collection: Kumpf et Meyer

Rosheim, Alsace, France

In 1997, Sophie Kumpf and Philippe Meyer merged their Alsatian family estates to create what we now know as their eponymous domaine. In 2010 Sophie was joined by Julien Albertus, a young winemaker full of convictions and ideas, who converted the vineyard to biodynamic farming in 2012.

Today it is Julien who oversees the 16 hectares of organic/biodynamic vines, spread across 70 vineyards, some of which have been used for growing grapes since the 17th century. Always searching for new ways to express the full potential of his varietals as naturally as possible, Julien makes his wine in a local cave on the outskirts of Rosheim - its cool climate perfect for production, with great energy and enthusiasm for each of his terroirs.

It's a fresh take on Alsatian favourites like Gewurztraminer, which undergoes 16 days maceration without stems, before eight months ageing In stainless steel vats to become Utopiste. Think typical Alsace grapes, with an innovative take on vinification.
