Jean Ginglinger, Gewürztraminer Maceration Steiner 2016

2016 vintage of Jean’s bold and expressive skin contact Geuwürztraminer. Grapes are from his 50 year-old Grand Cru Steinert vineyard and macerated in two parts. To traditionalists, this may be a counterintuitive winemaking decision: why take the fruit from your fanciest parcel and make an orange wine?

The risk pays off, as the process produces a powerful and elegant wine with depth and intensity of flavor. 14.5% alcohol, but drinks like 11.5% or 12%5. A beautiful vintage of an already-fantastic wine that would be great to age or wonderful now.
